People who suffer from cardiovascular diseases, are obliged to adhere to the diet. In most cases, a balanced diet appears effective in preventing these diseases and their treatment plays an important role. What exactly should be the core of each menu?

"Patients need to minimize the number of salt, which retains water in the body, which leads to increased blood pressure, as well as animal fats that damage the walls of blood vessels, increase the number of free radicals, as well as contribute to the development of obesity. People who suffer from cardiovascular diseases, ideally better to stick to the Mediterranean diet, which contains a large number of fish, various seafood, fruits and vegetables, "- says Sergey Gemuev, cardiologist kardioreanimatolog.

Patients are advised to include in the diet all foods rich in dietary fiber, potassium, magnesium, calcium, polyunsaturated fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6. Such a diet, according to cardiologists, will provide an opportunity to slow down the development of atherosclerosis, as well as to normalize blood pressure, reduce shortness of breath, swelling, reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack.

It is also necessary in the daily menu to add dairy products, which are rich in beneficial bacteria. They can prevent intestinal dysbiosis, provoking attacks of angina.

Sample menu core could look like this: Breakfast - the consumption of foods that contain complex carbohydrates (cereals, durum wheat pasta, whole grain bread, protect blood vessels and the heart). Afternoon and evening is better to give preference to fish, low-fat cottage cheese and poultry containing protein, easily digestible fruits and vegetables (a day not less than 200-250 g). Pork, lamb, canned food, beef, sausage, spicy seasonings advised to exclude from the diet.

Cores should eat foods that contain vitamin A (it strengthens capillary walls), vitamin E (prevents the formation of blood clots and reduces inflammation in the blood vessels), B vitamins (Vitamin B1 is involved in the regulation of muscle contraction of the heart, and B6 relieves spasms in the blood vessels, normalizing wherein perfusion of the heart) and folic acid (reducing the risk of atherosclerosis). Very useful in the summer fresh berries: they prevent the formation of cholesterol, blood clots, the deposition of lipids.

Marina Apletaeva, dietician notes that meals should be frequent and fractional (small portions 4-5 times a day). You can drink a cup of yogurt before bed, which improves processing of mineral substances, as well as accelerating the excretion of compounds that are harmful to the body. And consumption of milk is still better to reduce, because it contributes to bloating and gas formation.

As for drinks, it is good to avoid coffee, strong tea, alcohol in considerable quantities. "Patients with heart failure should be reduced fluid intake to 600 ml per day. Preference is better to give plain water, green tea, juices and herbal infusions, which do not contain sugar," - says S.Gemuev.
