Astronomers have discovered a new species of giant habitable planets

Sverhzemli - this planet, the more massive than the Earth, consisting of a stone rocks that may contain the continents, oceans, and atmosphere. Although there is no such planet in our solar system, but they are quite common in other planetary systems. As the theory goes, they will not only have all the positive attributes of the Earth, but they can provide a more stable environmental conditions on its surface.

Sverhzemli - a planet with a weight of 1 to 10 mass of the earth. Earth’s mass is 6.3 x 10 ^ 23 kg (6 with 24 zeros). For comparison, the mass of the sun is a million times greater than the earth, and it is 2.3 x 10 ^ 30.

First sverhzemlya was discovered in 2005. It revolves around the star Gliese 876 and about 7 times more massive than our planet. It is also very hot, because its orbit passes at a very close distance from its star, which is only 3% of the distance between the Sun and Mercury.

Sverhplanety consisting of stone rocks are formed similar to the Earth, although the pressure in the mantle is nearly ten times higher than that due to differences in the formation of minerals. Other sverhzemli consist of the oceans that stretch for 100 kilometers in depth, and the ocean floor carpeting hot and dense solid water, called ice VII.

It may seem that call hard water, whose temperature reaches 700 degrees Celsius ice, it is not appropriate, but a solid state of aggregation due to high pressure. Variety of hot ice under high pressure, known as ice VII, X, and XI: namely, we expect to find them at the bottom of the ocean super-Earths.

To refer to the categories planet planets oceans, its mass should be at least 10 percent consists of water. For comparison, the proportion of water in the mass of the Earth is only 0.02 percent.

There is another kind of hypothetical super-Earths - carbon planet. Astronomers found some rare star, which contains more carbon than oxygen, whereas normally the carbon contained in two times less than of oxygen.
