A small telescope has helped astronomers recently detected two Earth unusual for its type of extrasolar planets orbiting distant stars bright.
The two gas giants have been discovered with a telescope Kilodegree Extremely Little Telescope (KELT), which is located in the state of Arizona. Power of the optical system is comparable to a small telescope optics characteristic of today’s digital cameras, as the researchers note.
According to the information of astronomers, one of the planets, which gave the name KELT-1b, pretty impressive size, is incredibly hot and has a high density. This distant world occupant space, is composed primarily of metallic hydrogen. The size of it is a little larger than Jupiter, however, the weight of it as much as 27 times the weight of Jupiter.
This type of exoplanet scientists call "hot Jupiters" because they are gas giants, to rotate around their stars close enough.
Planet KELT-1b was seen at a distance of about 825 light-years away in the constellation Andromeda. It attracted the attention of astronomers not only because of its unusual proximity to the parent star, but also because this is the proximity of the planet’s strong gravity heavy, which in turn promotes the formation of tides on the parent star, thereby accelerating its rotation.
The second newly discovered planet, called KELT-2Ab, located at a distance of about 360 light-years away in the constellation Auriga. This exoplanet is 30 percent larger than Jupiter and its heavier by almost 50 percent.
Eccentricity of the planet is that it is quite bright parent star can be seen easily from Earth, armed with binoculars.
