An international team of astronomers studied more than 70 stars of spectral type O. These lights were located in a 6 star clusters, galaxies. For their study, experts used data from the Chilean telescope Very Large Telescope.
The lead author of the works of Hugo Sanaa University of Amsterdam reported that the stars of spectral type are the biggest and brightest in our galaxy. They are more than 15 times in the Sun and about a million times brighter. They emit a blue-white light, and the temperature on the surface can reach 30 million degrees. The life of these stars is very short, but stormy. It ends the big bang, in which are scattered around other elements such as iron and oxygen. Thus, these stars affect the chemical composition of the galaxy.
After analyzing in detail the outgoing light from these stars, the researchers found that 75% of them are star pairs, and many of them are very close to the star-partner. Scientists note that the distance between them is so small that they appear to be a source of radiation. And only by an on-ultraviolet telescope spectrograph researchers have noted that in fact it is paired stars.
Giant stars are often pulls gas from their partners, and even couples are able to fully absorb them. Receiving portions of fresh oxygen, giant star gradually suck the life out of her companions, thereby prolonging its existence.
