"Hubble" registered a record fine spiral galaxy

Located at a distance of 40 million light years from Earth, the galaxy IC 2233 is located in the constellation Lynx. Unlike most spirals it lacks baldazh - characteristic thickening of the center, although it relates to this type of galaxies. In addition, the galaxy interstellar dust is scattered near the center of a small cluster, and is not collected in a central line.

According to one of the most common morphological classification of galaxies, which was proposed by Edwin Hubble, the galaxies are divided into elliptical, lenticular, spiral and irregular. In addition to the typical spiral galaxy bulge comprises an outer spheroidal component - halo - a helically twisted arms. There are some star clusters, and clouds of interstellar gas.

With the help of a telescope "Hubble" astronomers have recently been able to open in space seven ancient galaxies that formed in the era of reionization, when the "lit" the first stars. The discovery was made thanks to the high sensitivity of the Wide Field Camera 3, which was installed in 2009 on the telescope.
